Just like in any other slums
in Kenya, girls and boys from
kibera community face complex
problems. They often come from
difficult social backgrounds with
many families living below the
poverty threshold. Due to poor
education, many youths lack skills
making it difficult for them to
find employment. They are exposed
to health risks, alcoholism and
drugs. Girls and young women especially
face violence and crime, more
than a few are discriminated and
excluded from social life. This
is where Kibera Sport Development
Programme comes into play. |

Programme - Running for
Education |

|
When
K.S.P.D first started
its ‘Running for
Education’ programme
last year, our philosophy
was simple: To give
as many of these young
and promising children
a chance to get descent
education and nurture
their athletic talent
at the same time. There
are currently 4 students
on full scholarships
and who now have a more
promising future. At
the end of this year,
26 more students will
be graduating from primary
schools to high school,
out of these, 13 of
them come from poor
families who cannot
pay for their education
and therefore will be
relying ultimately on
the sponsorship of the
foundation to proceed
with their education.
And we are now working
on finding sponsors
for these children.
By
linking one person who
wants to help, with
one child who needs
it.Your sponsorship
today will change a
child’s life forever. |

Activity - Youth Development
Through SportsCamps |

|
There’s
no quick fix for fostering
a comprehensive social,
academic and athletic
development in children.
We build the foundation
brick by brick —
day after day, 25
hours a week during
these training camps.
What we call Training
Camps are athletic/intellectual
and life skills development
activities that anyone
can use to model,
shape and reinforce
the capabilities that
equip a child to succeed.
Developing these skills
helps kids communicate
well, team up effectively
with others and be
self-motivated.
They
learn how to motivate
themselves to cope
with the everyday
difficulties of life.
